George child and family welfare

Who we are.

George Child and Family Welfare is a designated child protection organisation, that was started from humble beginnings in September 1926. With thousands of lives changed or impacted over the years, we are still serving the community of George and spreading hope and happiness in the lives of those who are reported to us or reach out to us for assistance.

We are

because of you.

Our organisation continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the generous support of our Patron, Sabine Plattner, and SPAC (Sabine Plattner African Charities). Mrs. Plattner has truly been a godsend, especially during a time when our organisation almost had to close our doors due to a lack of available funding. Being a good Samaritan, Mrs. Plattner provided the much-needed funding to help us get back on our feet – she officially became our patron in the year 2000.

Thanks to the generosity of Mrs. Plattner, we secured our own premises which has for the past 20 years been a beacon of hope and happiness to victims of abuse.

Mrs Plattner’s devotion to seeing children in crisis flourish in a safe and loving home, saw the Cluster Foster Care Programme come to fruition. In 2019, we officially opened our very first cluster foster care home and currently, we have five cluster foster care homes.

As the owner of Fancourt, Mrs. Plattner and her staff as well as members of the esteemed golf estate share our desire to change lives for the better. Over the years, Fancourt’s management, members, and guests have started a successful stationery drive which has helped hundreds of children get ready for the first day back at school by supplying their stationery needs for the academic year.

Securing funding to maintain an NGO the size of George Child and Family Welfare would be an impossible task without the assistance of Mrs Plattner and SPAC. We continue to grow and develop, as well as retain our dedicated staff thanks to her amazing support!

We are because of you; we will forever be grateful to you!

The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" is so true in the sense that the community outreach and work that we do, would not be possible without the generous donations from our supporters. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of so many, and creating hope and happiness for those in need.
